Workplace Health and Safety Policy


At Sunshine Coast Civil, we understand that the well-being and safety of our workers and visitors are paramount to the success of our company. To this end, we strive to enhance health and safety in our workplace by fostering communication and increasing awareness among our management and staff.

  • To achieve our objectives, we maintain a Workplace Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS) consistent with AS/NZS 45001:2018. Our WHSMS includes:
  • Providing a safe and secure environment for all workers and visitors.
  • Reduce and minimise workplace activity risks to a low level, as reasonably practical.
  • Comply with relevant State Legislation, local council requirements, codes of practice, standards, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Develop measurable objectives and targets that actively contribute to the elimination of workplace incidents.
  • Consistently achieve full compliance with AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018

 To achieve these objectives, we have implemented the following strategies:

  • Workplace health and safety (WHS) is considered in all planning and operational activities.
  • Regular consultation with the workforce and relevant stakeholders to incorporate their input regarding WHS decisions that may affect them.
  • Implementation of education and learning programs to ensure optimal safety and environmental understanding.
  • Identification and control of potential workplace hazards through comprehensive hazard identification and risk analysis of our work processes.
  • Reporting, investigating, controlling, and implementing prevention strategies for all potential accident/incident occurrences.
  • Providing effective injury management and rehabilitation for all workers.
  • Continual review of our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) system elements to ensure compliance with current legislation and AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 requirements.

We have a solid framework for health and safety management, along with a plan to assess and control risks. Our goal is to promote safe behaviours and work systems throughout our company.

  • Operating practices that adhere to and promote the provisions of applicable quality assurance legislation and develop innovations to improve service delivery.
  • A commitment to promote continuous improvement throughout the business and establish measurable objectives and targets.
  • Providing necessary training, instruction, and information to all employees, subcontractors, and third parties at Sunshine Coast Civil workplaces in regard to quality assurance.
  • A commitment from senior management to allocate resources to implement a Management System that conforms to the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001:2016.
  • Communicating Sunshine Coast Civil's quality management policy to employees, subcontractors, clients, and the community through various channels, including internal meetings, toolbox talks, correspondence, emails, and our website.

Environmental Management Policy

To achieve our objectives, we maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with AS/NZS ISO 14001:2016. Our EMS includes:

  • Adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and statutory requirements concerning environmental issues.
  • Managing environmental and related issues in compliance with client requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Implementing waste minimisation principles and taking practical measures to prevent pollution and other harmful effects from our operations.
  • Developing, monitoring, and auditing environmental management systems and programs.
  • Educating and training our employees to enhance their awareness, skills, and knowledge of environmental issues and practices.
  • Collecting meaningful and accurate environmental performance data and distributing such information to employees and management as appropriate.
  • Establishing and reviewing performance indicators and taking appropriate measures to enhance performance.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the environmental performance of subcontractors and suppliers and effectively communicating with them on environmental issues.
